National Engineering Laboratory for Digital Composite Publishing Systems
The National Engineering Laboratory for Digital Compound Publishing Systems was initiated and supported by the former General Administration of Press and Publication of China. It focuses on the development of new digital compound publishing technologies based on unified standards. The goal is to create a comprehensive system that integrates printed publications, digital publications, and various types of digital information resources for production and service. The overarching objective is to develop a complete series of major technical equipment with independent intellectual property rights and world-class standards for the publishing industry, establish a public technology service system for digital publishing, promote the integration of culture and technology, enable publishing institutions to secure leading positions in the industry, foster the development of emerging cultural industries, and safeguard China’s cultural security. On November 5, 2017, the Information Center of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, together with Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, jointly established the National Engineering Laboratory for Digital Compound Publishing Systems. Currently, the laboratory has 25 researchers, operates a 5,000-square-meter facility, has undertaken 25 national-level projects, and has organized and participated in the development of over 100 national and industry association standards.
