Vice President of the University of Chester Visits BIGC
On the morning of May 12, Professor David McGravie, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Chester (UK), led a delegation to visit Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication (BIGC). The delegation included Wu Hongchen, Director for China and Asia-Pacific Affairs at the University of Chester, and Xu Jin, Director of the China Office at the University of Chester. Tian Zhongli, President of BIGC, and Chen Dan, Vice President of BIGC, met with the delegation. Representatives from the School of Design and Art and the Office of International Affairs also attended the meeting.

Tian Zhongli extended a warm welcome to David McGravie and his delegation. He gave a comprehensive overview of BIGC's history, disciplinary strengths, achievements in international cooperation and exchange, as well as its contributions to major national initiatives. He noted that the University of Chester has a long and distinguished history, a strong academic foundation, and has achieved remarkable success in the realm of art with significant international influence. He expressed the hope that the two institutions would embark on a new chapter of in-depth cooperation.
David McGravie introduced the University of Chester and expressed his hope that the two institutions would work hand in hand to share resources, complement each other's strengths, and enable more faculty and students to benefit from international collaboration, thereby promoting educational and cultural exchange and integration between China and the UK.
During the exchange session, Chen Dan emphasized that BIGC places great importance on doctoral education and had established a solid foundation for collaboration in publishing with other UK institutions. She expressed the hope that both sides could explore innovative models for joint training of high-level talent, in order to cultivate more highly qualified professionals for the academic community. She also proposed the establishment of a China-UK Art Alliance and a Joint Research Center to carry out collaborative research projects, co-host internationally influential academic conferences, and jointly build a distinctive academic brand.

Following the meeting, the delegation from the University of Chester visited BIGC's special exhibition on contributions to the Beijing Winter Olympics.
University Profile:
The University of Chester, founded in 1839, was the first higher education institution in the UK dedicated to teacher training and is one of the country's oldest comprehensive public universities. It is located in the historic Roman city of Chester, the capital of Cheshire in the northwest of England. The university has seven campuses spread across Chester and the surrounding areas. It comprises seven faculties and offers over 400 undergraduate and postgraduate (Master's/PhD) programmes, with approximately 20,700 students currently enrolled in degree courses.
