The 1st International Summit on Publishing Education
On June 17, 2023, during the 29th Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), the 1st International Summit on Publishing Education was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. The forum was co-hosted by Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication (BIGC), the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy Publishing and Media Committee, and the China Publishing Association. It was jointly organized by the School of Publishing at BIGC, the Publishing Research Institute of Peking University, the National Teaching Steering Committee for Publishing Programs in Higher Education, the National Steering Committee for Graduate Education in Publishing, and China National Publications Import & Export (Group) Corporation. Focusing on two major themes—“Publishing Education and Talent Cultivation in a Converged Media Environment” and “Integrated Media Development of Multinational Publishing Companies”—the summit brought together leading scholars and professionals from both academia and industry, fostering in-depth exchanges and discussions. The event aimed to build consensus on innovative publishing education and promote the high-quality development of the publishing industry.
The summit also proposed the establishment of the International Alliance for Publishing Education, welcoming the active participation of universities and publishing institutions from both China and abroad. The alliance aims to fulfill the mission of serving global publishing education through initiatives such as joint programs, collaborative training, academic exchanges, and graduate study abroad opportunities.
