School of Vocational and Continuing Education
The School of Vocational and Continuing Education at Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication (BIGC) is the institution responsible for the BIGC’s adult higher education and non-degree education programs. As early as 1987, BIGC established the Correspondence Education Department. In 1991, it was renamed the Department of Adult Education, and in 1999, it became the School of Continuing Education. In 2016, following the integration of the former School of Vocational and Technical Education, it was renamed the School of Vocational and Continuing Education.

Continuing education is an integral part of BIGC’s talent cultivation system and serves as an important bridge for BIGC’s engagement with society. Based in Beijing and serving the entire nation, the School leverages BIGC’s strong educational resources and high-quality faculty to curate specialized programs and courses that reflect distinct industry characteristics and market advantages. It has developed a comprehensive teaching system and training model tailored to the needs of adult higher education, and has trained a large number of highly qualified professionals and management personnel for the news and publishing, printing and packaging, design and art, and creative cultural industries in Beijing and across the country.

Degree Programs: Over nearly 40 years of development, the School has established a comprehensive degree education system encompassing various levels, including junior college (associate degree), “top-up” bachelor’s programs (for associate degree holders), and high school–to–bachelor’s degree programs. By leveraging BIGC’s high-quality resources, the School continuously optimizes its talent cultivation schemes and academic offerings. The main programs include Editing and Publishing, Printing Engineering, Digital Media Art, Computer Science and Technology, Digital Media Technology, Internet and New Media, and Cultural Industry Management. To date, the School has trained more than 20,000 graduates through its degree programs, many of whom have become backbone professionals in China’s printing and publishing industry.

Non-degree Education: The School embraces the concept of lifelong learning and has established a continuing education and training platform for the industry. While advancing the reform of adult higher education, the School leverages its flexible educational model to strengthen deep cooperation with industry associations and industrial clusters. Committed to integrating BIGC’s high-quality resources with those of society and the industry, the School has developed a range of high-end training programs that are highly targeted and practical. Over time, it has gradually built a distinctive, diversified, and widely accessible talent training system tailored to the needs of the news and publishing, printing, and packaging industries.

In this new stage of development, the School of Vocational and Continuing Education will fully leverage its resource advantages and further enhance its internal capacity. Committed to advancing continuing education and promoting lifelong learning, the School will center its efforts on a first-class faculty team and ensure quality through professional educational management. In keeping with the trends of the times, it will adhere to a path of innovative development and serve the needs of government, industry, enterprises, and the broader public. The School is dedicated to making meaningful contributions to BIGC’s goal of becoming a publishing-focused institution with Chinese characteristics and international recognition.
