School of General Education
The School of General Education at Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication (BIGC) was established in April 2021. As a teaching unit that provides foundational support for BIGC’s disciplinary and program development as well as talent cultivation, it is responsible for delivering general education courses across BIGC, including mathematics, physics, physical education, foreign languages, aesthetic education, and labor education. The School is committed to laying a solid academic foundation for students and nurturing well-rounded socialist builders and successors with moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education.

History and Organizational Structure
The School of General Education was formed through the merger of the former Department of General Studies, Department of Foreign Language Teaching, and Department of Physical Education. In April 2022, BIGC renamed the former Art Education Center—previously under the administration of the Student Affairs Office—as the Aesthetic Education Teaching and Research Office, and also established the Labor Education Teaching and Research Office. The responsibilities for aesthetic and labor education were formally assigned to the School of General Education. In April 2023, the School further refined the structure of its Department of Mathematics and Physics by separating it into two distinct units: the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Physics.
Currently, the School of General Education consists of four departments and two teaching and research offices, namely: the Department of Foreign Languages, the Department of Physical Education, the Department of Mathematics, the Department of Physics, the Aesthetic Education Teaching and Research Office, and the Labor Education Teaching and Research Office.

Faculty and Teaching Research
As of March 2025, the School of General Education has a total of 86 faculty and staff members, including 70 full-time teachers. The faculty team has a well-balanced structure and a high level of academic achievement, with 54.29% holding senior professional titles. In terms of academic qualifications, 91.43% of the faculty members hold master’s or doctoral degrees. This high-caliber faculty provides a strong foundation for the School’s teaching and research activities.
The School promotes curriculum development and teaching reform by incorporating modern teaching methods and technologies to continuously enhance the quality of instruction. It is also deeply engaged in educational research, exploring the principles of talent cultivation in the new era and innovating educational models to better meet the needs of societal development and student growth.

Teaching Responsibilities and Educational Objectives
